The Soil Acoustics team will be attending the Agroforestry Show 2025, taking place on 10-11 September at Woodoaks Farm in Maple Cross, Hertfordshire.
Organised by the Soil Association and The Woodland Trust, The Agroforestry Show is a two-day event bringing together farmers, foresters, researchers and innovators who are shaping the future of land use. The event is designed to inspire collaboration, share practical knowledge and support the widespread adoption of agroforestry across the UK.
Agroforestry, the integration of trees and shrubs into farming systems, plays a vital role in creating more resilient and sustainable land management. By combining food and timber production with environmental stewardship, agroforestry can:
- Improve soil health and fertility by increasing organic matter and enhancing nutrient cycling
- Boost biodiversity both above and below ground
- Enhance water management through improved infiltration and retention
- Reduce erosion and compaction, keeping soils stable and productive
- Store carbon, helping to mitigate climate change
- In short, healthy soils sit at the heart of successful agroforestry systems.
Our Soil Acoustic Meter (SAM) is helping farmers and researchers measure and monitor soil biodiversity through sound. By listening to the life beneath the surface, we can create Soil Acoustic Quality Index (SAQI) benchmarks that support better management decisions and track changes over time.
At the Agroforestry Show, we’ll be sharing how our technology can provide new insights into:
- Soil biodiversity in agroforestry systems
- Monitoring ecosystem change as trees and shrubs are integrated into farmland
- Evidence of regenerative practices, supporting both farm productivity and environmental resilience
The Agroforestry Show is set to feature expert talks, workshops and practical demonstrations, alongside opportunities to connect with others in the farming and forestry communities.
We’d love to connect with farmers, land managers, researchers and anyone exploring the potential of agroforestry. If you’re attending, make sure to stop by and chat with us about how listening to your soils can help to support a thriving agroforestry system.
