As the spring events season gets well under way Soil Acoustics will be exhibiting at the Ecology Expo 2026 on 18–19 March at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. This event brings together ecologists, researchers, conservation professionals and technology innovators for two days of discovery, networking and professional development.
At the heart of our showcase will be the Soil Acoustic Meter (SAM), an innovative tool that uses sound to reveal the hidden life beneath our feet. Unlike traditional soil surveys, which often require worm-pit digging or lab analysis, soil acoustics provides fast, non-invasive insights into soil structure, compaction, moisture levels and biodiversity. By “listening” to the soil, SAM can help ecologists, land managers and researchers make informed decisions that support, productivity, habitat health and the future of sustainable farming.
Our Director, Andrew Baker, will be speaking on Thursday 19 March with “An Introduction to the Uses of Soil Acoustics”, sharing real-world examples of how this technology is transforming farming’s approach to soil health and informing nature recovery projects. From mapping soil compaction in agricultural fields to monitoring habitat restoration projects, soil acoustics is opening new doors for sustainable land management.
Visitors to Ecology Expo will have the chance to see SAM in action, experiencing first-hand how acoustic signals can translate into actionable data. It’s a chance to explore a technology that is not only innovative but also a practical, and a cost-effective tool for BNG baselines and long term nature recovery monitoring.
As the ecology sector continues to embrace technology and data-driven methods, soil acoustics represents a step-change in how we understand and care for the land.
We’re among friends at this event, with Dave Kilby from Natural Apptitude also speaking on Thursday, and long-standing hardware partner of Baker Consultants, Wildlife Acoustics as a main sponsor. CIEEM’s Penny Lewns’ closing speech on The Art of Good Science is right up our street. Click here to buy your tickets – we’ll see you there!
