Groundswell 2025 provided a rare opportunity to connect with peers, pioneers, and the next generation in regenerative agriculture. The turnout, over 10,000 attendees, including members of royalty, underscores how soil health and sustainable farming are rapidly moving from niche topics to mainstream consciousness. It’s a sign that farmers, researchers and public figures alike are recognising the urgency and potential of regenerating our land for the future.
For Soil Acoustics, the event was the perfect platform to share discoveries from the field. Many of our partners have been using the Soil Acoustic Meter (SAM) to monitor soil biodiversity, and Groundswell allowed us to showcase the real-world impact of this technology. Attendees could see first-hand how listening to soil invertebrates can provide an early, precise indication of soil health, a method that brings a fresh perspective to a sector still uncovering the full potential of regenerative practices.
One of the highlights was unveiling our new data analysis portal, developed in collaboration with Natural Apptitude. This AI-driven platform analyses soil sounds in real time, delivering Soil Acoustics Quality Index (SAQI) scores for individual fields providing insights into their biological activity. Whilst the foot fall was far too heavy for us to conduct any ‘live-listening’ there was a tipi in the woods hosted by some academic researchers allowing visitors to experience truly immersive demonstration of how science meets the land.
The event also offered an inspiring educational angle. We welcomed A-level students to our stand alongside LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming). Following a discussion on diverse careers in food and farming with The Duchess of Edinburgh, the students were eager to explore the technological side of agriculture. Their team shared, “the students were fascinated to hear about the technology the industry is using, which opened their eyes to how high-tech agriculture really is. Groundswell gave them the chance to engage with the wider industry and understand the hard work driving sustainable practice. The experience was eye-opening for both students and teachers.” It was a great privilege to help young people see agriculture not just as farming, but as a space for innovation, science and meaningful impact.
We were pleased to welcome a number of industry leaders and established partners to our stand. Teams from Waitrose, McCains and Nestlé visited, alongside our early-adopter users Wildfarmed and Ian Beecher-Jones from JoJo’s Vineyard. A particularly exciting moment came when The Duchy of Cornwall, Prince William, stopped by to learn more about how our technology can help shape sustainable farming practices both nationally and internationally. It was a unique opportunity to engage directly with members of the monarchy who are actively driving issues like sustainability. His interest highlighted that the conversation around soil health and regenerative agriculture is not only gaining momentum on farms, but also at the highest levels of advocacy and public awareness.
Groundswell remains unique in its focus. Unlike traditional agricultural shows, the draw is knowledge, conversation and collaboration, not machinery or sales. Standout talks included sessions from Gabe Brown, featured on Farming Today, and regenerative farmer Tim Parton, who shared practical insights on how regenerative practices are transforming soil, farm ecosystems, and long-term productivity.
We were also pleased to spend time with partners and fellow regenerative agriculture advocates Wildfarmed. As a business committed to farming in harmony with nature, Wildfarmed is helping to drive a wider shift toward regenerative practices that prioritise soil health, biodiversity and long-term resilience. Co-founder Andy Cato has been a particularly visible advocate for this transition, using his platform to raise awareness of what regenerative farming can achieve. The video below offers a closer look at Wildfarmed’s regenerative approach and the partners involved, showing how collaboration across the supply chain can support healthier soils and more sustainable food production.
Groundswell 2025 reinforced a simple but powerful truth: regenerative agriculture is growing, evolving and inspiring across generations. For Soil Acoustics, it was an invaluable opportunity to share our work and innovation, and continue building a future where technology and tradition work together to restore the health of our soils.
We’re already looking forward to returning to Groundswell this year, and can’t wait to share more insights from the field, explore new ways our technology can support regenerative practices, and continue the conversations that make this event such a vital hub for knowledge exchange.
